Over 200 youths in the age group of 15 and 24 and drawn from Oman and many foreign countries will be attending the four-day residential Muscat Youth Summit (MYS) scheduled between December 9 and December 12 at the Millennium Resort in Al Mussanah. Being organised by the Public Authority for Investment Promotion & Export Development (PAIPED), this year's MYS will focus on entrepreneurship, urban art and culture, and traffic safety. "Let's be clear, MYS isn't only about insight, it's also about involvement from a diverse range of young people, businesses, government and academia on a large-scale,- said Sayyid Faisal Al Said, PAIPED's Director General of Marketing and Media. "Those selected to attend MYS 2012 will show to the world that Oman has a large pool of young talents and it's our collective responsibility to reach out to them and ensure their thoughts and ideas are taken forward. I firmly believe the endeavours of our youth in enterprise, their energy, enthusiasm and success will present a wonderful image of Oman to the world,- he added. In its fourth year, MYS is still developing and showing enormous potential for the future. "In all of this, it's important that we project Oman's stand on youth entrepreneurship, city planning, sustainability, urban art and culture, and traffic safety. "We have to show to the world that we understand the enterprise culture, its significance to our country's development and are nurturing youth with an understanding of that culture. Indeed, as a nation, we've got to actively encourage young innovators, talent and ideas that add value to Oman economy. It's this philosophy that's at the heart of MYS 2012,- noted Sayyid Faisal. Many in Oman's business and government circles see MYS playing a key role in supporting young people, helping them become responsible citizens and providing them with skills to succeed in today's ever competitive world.
