The great achievements of the Algerian and the major events that marked its history since the National Liberation War are being highlighted at Algiers Exhibition Centre. Entitled "50 years of diplomacy: memories and achievements," the exhibition was opened Monday by Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci, in the presence of members of the government and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Algiers. Photographs, videos and archives relating to the history of the Algerian diplomacy since the National Liberation War, as well as its presence around the world are being displayed on the occasion of this exhibition, which will run until 23 March. Algeria’s role in the settlement of some conflicts and disputes around the world, the principles on which the Algerian diplomacy is based, particularly the support to the just causes and the right of peoples to self-determination, non-interference in internal affairs of other states, and its struggle for more equitable international relations are being highlighted at the exhibition, held as part of the festivities marking the fiftieth anniversary of Independence. Documentaries on the history of Algerian diplomacy and its achievements will be screened on this occasion. In his opening address, Medelci underlined that 18 March has no been chosen fortuitously, as it marks the signing of Evian accords in 1962, he explained. "Through this exhibition, we aim mainly at presenting to the general public, especially young people the major achievements of Algeria’s diplomacy," Medelci said.
