The Cultural Village in Doha (KATARA) will host interesting events during the month of October including plays, musical show, movies, opera and many other events that will entertain not only Doha audience but would attract tourist from all over the world. Iraqi Theatre Company created a new version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet set in contemporary Baghdad which started on 30th of September and will continue until 3rd of October. It is a production infused with Iraq's rich traditions of poetry, music and ritual, counterpointing the bleak cycle of violence and revenge with a nation's longing for beauty and love. On the 3rd of October, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea will organized with KATARA a concert for the brilliant young Violinist, Esther Yoo who will perform traditional Korean song and a Qatari folk song in addition to the classical music. KATARA DFI Cinema will host from 9th to 15th of October with The Kid with a Bike , Winner of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival Grand Jury Prize. The film is directed by the acclaimed Dardenne brothers who have won more than 30 international awards and received over 20 nominations during their lifetime. Curated by Francesco Bonami, Yan Pei-Ming "Painting the history" exhibition which will start from 12th of October 2012 to 12th of January 2013 profiles three types of history-makers and highlights the power of painting as a medium for recording historical events and portraying iconic figures. Yan Pei-Ming is a world-renowned artist who became known for his "epic-sized" portraits of Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong, and actor Bruce Lee. Qatar is now among the 60 countries worldwide that joined The Metropolitan Opera High Definition Live Series. Giving the opportunity to spectators to experience grand opera straight from the stage of the Met in New York, KATARA will present 11 operas for the season 2012-2013 which will open on the 13th of October. Verdi's acclaimed opera AIDA is finally coming to KATARA for two nights only on the 18th and 21st of October. First performed in 1871 in Egypt, this production in set and costumes of the world famous sculptor Igor Mitoraj, with more than 80 choristes, 12 ballet dancers, 35 actors and 8 of the most renowned Verdi singers of today, together with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Verdi specialist Pier Giorgio Morandi. As part of "Qatar Japan 2012" project to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between two countries, the Embassy of Japan is going to organize a Japanese popular theatre performance by "Kengeki Harukomaza" in cooperation with Human and Cultural Exchange General Incorporated Association and with the full support of KATARA from 22nd to 23rd of October. The audience can understand the performance without the knowledge of Japanese language.
