Drawing from myth, legend and historical events of Sikh history, Gurutej Singh Khalsa tells the moving, new epic story “Rajni” (published by Trafford Publishing), the first of a trilogy about the powers of sacrifice, love and commitment to one’s higher self.
The historical novel tells of sacred water that fills the tank at the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India. Through the voice of Akal Purkh – an intimate term for God indicating devotional familiarity – the Golden Chain of Truth to the earth is established through four gurus of the Sikhs who pave the way for Rajni’s story. Rajni, does not appear until about halfway through the book.
The core of the story is about Rajni, a spiritually minded, though arrogant, young princess who defies her father and is forced to marry a deformed leper and pull him around the Punjab in search of the sacred water and the Guru of Miracles.
“I want to inspire readers to look deep into themselves and assess their values and commitment,” Khalsa says. “It is possible to achieve extraordinary things if one simply perseveres and has faith in themselves and in the power of the Cosmos. I hope readers recognize when they are faced with bad situations, the heavens are not going to fall and they can find their way through.”
