Nowruz was celebrated in the Canadian city of Toronto. Organized for the second time by the Turkish Canadian Friendship Society, Nowruz was celebrated at Nile Academy, the only Turkish school in Toronto. Participants from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tatarstan, Tajikistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Afghanistan,Yakutia, Iran, East Turkistan, Iraq and Republic of Northern Cyprus attended the event as well as Ontario's Minister for Research and Innovation Reza Moridi and Toronto MP from the Liberal Party Judy Sgro. Delivering his speech in Turkish, Moridi celebrated Nowruz. Moridi stated that when "Turkish society" was considered it covered Turkish people from 12 countries around the world and Nowruz was a new beginning every year. Folk dances and traditional clothing and cuisine were displayed at the festival.
