Jekyll Island’s Historic District will come alive with creativity and artistic expression when the annual Jekyll Island Arts Association’s Arts & Antique Festival comes to the island the weekend of March 9 – 11, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jekyll Island Arts Festival takes place on the grounds of Goodyear Cottage in the Landmark Historic District. This is a free annual event. The arts festival is a three-day festival highlighting the works of many of the association’s 432 members coming from all over North America. Friday, March 9 Art Festival. 10 AM – 4 PM. Goodyear Cottage. Free Entry Antiques Show Preview Party. 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM. Jekyll Island Club Hotel Morgan Center. $75 per person. Ticket price includes passed heavy hors d’oeuvres and exclusive early entry to the Antiques show. Proceeds benefit the Jekyll Island Foundation. Saturday, March 10 Art Festival 10 AM – 4 PM. Goodyear Cottage. Free Entry Antique Show 10 AM – 6 PM. Jekyll Island Club Hotel Morgan Center. $7 entry Sunday, March 11 Art Festival 10 AM – 4 PM. Goodyear Cottage. Free Entry Antique Show 11 AM – 4 PM. Jekyll Island Club Hotel Morgan Center. $7 entry This festival has evolved into an event that attracts over 3,000 visitors to Jekyll Island every year. Antique Show: Produced by renowned antique show producers, Melrose and Johns, the antique show is sure to bring in a large crowd. Twenty five fine antique dealers will be on site to showcase and sell their finest wares. Entry is $7 per person on Saturday and Sunday. Friday night’s Preview Party is $75, including entry and appetizers. Art Show: Most submissions to the Arts Festival will be for sale after judging and the “Festival Shop” will sell handmade item during the festival. In addition to the exhibit and shop, the Jekyll Island Arts Association will have demonstrations by weavers, carvers, painters and potters going on during the Festival. The ever popular Festival Bake Sale will be selling delicious homemade baked goods and lunch can be found at “The Café” where famous Brunswick stew will be served with cornbread and coleslaw. Hot dogs, hamburgers and cold drinks will also be available during “The Café’s” hours of 11:00AM to 2:00PM.
