Indians said they celebrated the country's 67th Independence Day Thursday across the world, in Beijing, Bangkok, Tokyo and other cities. More than 300 Indians attended a celebration in Tokyo, where India's ambassador unfurled the national flag, the Press Trust of India said. A similar event took place at the embassy in Beijing and Bangkok, where the ambassadors read President Pranab Mukharjee's national address. India's high commissioner Vijay Thakur Singh led more than 500 Indians in celebration in Singapore. He also read the national address, which was followed by three hours of cultural performances and signing. Celebrations also took place in Australia where Indians hosted flag hoisting ceremonies and dinners, the Press Trust said. Biren Nanada, India's high commissioner to Australia, said the countries' two relations have improved in recent years. "Our bilateral trade has reached $20 billion. There has been a very significant growth in two-way investment. Indian companies have invested significantly in the resources sector and have propelled our economic relationship to the strategic level," he said. ?
