Algerian films will participate in the Middle Eastern Film Festival of Edinburgh (Scotland) from 16 to 30 May and which will devote its 2014’s edition to Maghreb cinema, said the event’s organizers. Co-produced with European countries, feature films Merzak Allouache’s "Bab El Oued City" and Rachid Bouchareb’s "Hors la loi" (Outside the Law), as well as the short film "Mollement, samedi matin" (Limply, one Saturday morning) will be screened in this festival, placed under the theme "Post-colonial Struggles: Cinema from the Maghreb." Tunisian and Moroccan films will also be screened in this artistic event, including "Buzness" by Tunisian Nouri Bouzid and "Sur la planche" (On the Edge) by Moroccan Leila Kilani. The festival, which aims at making known the Middle Eastern and North African cultures among the Scots, will also see the organization on May 17 of a symposium on the Maghreb cinema and the role of the region’s filmmakers, said the event’s organizers.
