The 3rd edition of Al-Tayeb Salih International Award for Creative Writing is to be launched during Feb 21-22 for novel, short story and literacy criticism categories. The launching will witness announcement of final results of the 454 competitors from around the world including a Palestinian prisoner of war who sent a text from his jail as first such incident. Competition for the Award was opened last May. The first award is $10,000, the second $7,000 and the third $5,000 for each of the three writing categories. The Award is organized by the Communication Company Zain-Sudan in commemoration of the renowned late Sudanese writer whose novel "Season of Migration to the North" is chosen among the 100 greatest books in the world history and it has played a major role in highlighting Sudanese culture and writings at the international arenas. A group of prominent authors will take part in the Award launching including the Syrian critic Nabeel Sulieman, the Egyptian university lecturer Dr. Mohamed Abd al-Mutalib, Dr. Abd Allah Ibrahim Ilawe, Dr. Asma Ahmed Miekil (Syria), Dr. Rashad Abu Shawer (Palestine) and Shoul Deng (South Sudan) in addition to Mr. Ibrahim Isihag, Dr. Assia Wadaat Allah and Dr. Abd al-Aleem Mohamed Ismiel from Sudan.
