The 21st Belgrade Summer Festival - Belef opens tonight with an international exhibit dubbed "Point Blank - Mikser on Belef." The idea behind the "Point Blank" project is for 19 artists from Serbia and abroad to mount installations in Beogradska zadruga (the Geozavod building) to make the building visible through artistic interventions in space. Through August 15, Belef will encompass 14 festivals and 48 programs and become "a festival of festivals," the event's director Vuk Despotovic has announced. Despotovic said the concept of the event was changed this year with the desire to unite the creative forces of multiple festivals and offer a quality program over all 83 days of Belef's duration. All events at Belef will be premieres, not reruns of programs from other festivals, said its selector Aleksandar Denic. Over 300 artists will present their work at around 30 concerts, three film festivals and eight exhibitions.(ANSAmed)
