Police have adopted new tactics to deter speeding motorists, and the method will surprise you.
Motorists travelling from Umm Al Quwain to Ras Al Khaimah were shocked to discover that the police car parked on the side of the E311 highway was made out of cardboard
The road limit on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road is 120km/h, and it is not uncommon for motorists to speed at excessive rates before reaching the next radar.
The video was posted by Aly Naqvi on March 12, 2017, and has been generating interest from residents who never saw a gimmick like this before.
The cardboard vehicle looks exactly like a genuine police car, and also includes flashing red and blue lights.
Umm Al Quwain Police declined to comment whether they will continue to use the decoy as part of their campaign against speeding drivers.
The fake car has since been removed from the highway
