An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted 83 km off Kirakira, Solomon Islands on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The earthquake, which struck at 05:46:25 UTC, was initially determined to be at 10.227 degrees south latitude and 161.195 degrees east longitude with a depth of 39.1 km.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center doesn't issue Tsunami alert after the shock.
Earthquakes are common for the Pacific Islands which boarder the 4,000-kilometre-long Pacific Australia plate to form part of the "Ring of Fire," a hotspot for seismic activity due to friction between tectonic plates.
