Spanish seismologists say a total of 17 light but measurable earthquakes struck the country's province of Granada between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Eleven tremors were recorded in the town of Moraleda de Zafayona, and another six hit Villanueva de Mesia, ThinkSpain reported. Most were less than 2-magnitude and were recorded by instruments but not felt by residents of the two towns, although one 2.3 tremor hit on Christmas morning. At 2.0 or stronger, some movement may be felt and objects may fall off shelves, with damage usually limited to a tile falling off a roof or a cracked window, seismologists said.
