Twelve people died and 370 others were injured in 311 road accidents which occurred in urban areas nationwide from June 24 to 30, said Wednesday General Directorate of National Police (DGSN).
The province of Algiers recorded the highest number of accidents (21) followed by Batna (19) and Biskra and Setif (15).
The human factor was, in most cases, the main cause of these accidents (93.57%) due essentially to speeding, tailgating and dangerous overtaking, added the source.
In this regard, the DGSN called on road users to respect the Highway Code and be more vigilant.
