MP Ossama Haikal, the Chairman of the Culture and Information Committee at the House of Representatives, described Sunday's terrorist attack on El Boutroseya Church as "unprecedented" and "regrettable".
In a telephone call with the Egyptian TV, MP Haikal underlined that today's attack came after Friday's attack on two security checkpoints in Giza's Haram district that left six police personnel dead and three others injured. These terrorist attacks signaled the need to revise security plans, he added.
Shifting to trials of terrorist elements, Haikal called for expediting trials and the enforcement of verdicts in light of the current dangerous situation in the country.
When Egypt succeeds in taking a step forward in the tourism, economic and security fields, it encounters fierce resistance by these terrorist organizations, which are greatly backed by foreign parties, Haikal accentuated.
