“Shehata met the Egypt Football Association chairman, Samir Zaher to finalise the paperwork that ends his contract with the national team,” EFA spokesman, Azmy Megahed told Ahram Online. The association thanked the country’s most successful coach for his accomplishment with the Pharaohs and they are planning to honour him in what’s expected to be a grand ceremony. The 62-year-old tactician stepped down from his leadership post with the Pharaohs last January after the three-successive-time African Cup of Nations champions were unable to defend their title after disqualifying for 2012 tournament. Shehata is currently coaching Cairo-based club Zamalek, succeeding Hossam Hossan. EFA named Olympic manager Hany Ramzy as caretaker coach for the first team in Sierra Leone and Niger matches until the new coach is named.
