The finals of the men's and women's events at the Rome International tournament here were delayed due to rain on Sunday. Chinese pair Peng Shuai and Zheng Jie had time to win the women's doubles 6-2, 6-3 against Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova before the heavens opened and delayed the start of the women's singles final. Play was due to get back underway at 1700 local time (1500 GMT). Former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova is due to take on last season's French Open runner-up Samantha Stosur. After that world number one Rafael Nadal will attempt to end number two Novak Djokovic's unbeaten start to the season in the men's final.
