Spain's national team squad will try and put club rivalries in the past when they play Chile in a friendly game in Switzerland on Friday night. The relations between the Real Madrid and FC Barcelona players in the Spain squad were damaged by the ugly scenes at the end of the Spanish Supercup when both sets of players were involved in on the pitch incidents following a violent challenge by Real Madrid's Marcelo on Cesc Fabrigas following an already charged affair. The Supercup followed on from the series of matches between the two clubs at the end of the season and even provoked Malaga' s Spain international winger, Santi Cazorla to comment that he was worried for the future of the good atmosphere that has been a key factor in the Spain squad in recent years. Captains, Xavi Hernandez and Iker Casillas has worked hard to build bridges between the two squads, which is important given that Barcelona have contributed nine players to the squad, while there are 5 Real Madrid players called up by Del Bosque. Although Friday's game is a warm up for next week' s straightforward European Championship qualifying game against Liechtenstein, Del Bosque will want a convincing display following defeat to Italy in August which cost Spain the number one spot in the FIFA World rankings. That means that debutants, Alvaro Dominguez, Alberto Botia and Martin Montoya could have to wait for their debuts, while Del Bosque could produce a surprise by playing Athletic Club Bilbao midfielder, Javi Martinez in central defense to cover for injured duo, Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique. Martinez would partner Raul Albiol, while Alvaro Arbeloa and Sergio Ramos play as full backs. Xabi Hernandez and Xabi Alonso will control midfield along with Sergio Busquets, while Cazorla, Iniesta and Alvaro Negredo look to be the favorites to lead the Spanish attack in a game that Del Bosque will no doubt hope serves to end rumors of bad relations between his players.
