The Moroccan Minister in charge of parliamentary relations Al Habib Al Shobani, told Arabstoday that the Justice and Development party led by Abdelilah Benkirane will appeal against the unemployment tribunal judgment made by the administrative court in Rabat. The government has been accused of breaching the constitution by administering coordination of mass unemployment without justification, a move which was branded as illegal by the court. Shobani stated that the judgment shows that the judiciary is independent of government control, and shows that politicians no longer have any influence on court decisions. He also warned against parties politicising the ruling as it could have a negative impact on future civilian employment rights. In the parliamentary session on Tuesday night, the Independence party demanded that the leading Justice and Development party reverse their decision and re-employ those they have dismissed. The deputy of the Independence party Adel Tchikito criticised Benkirane and the way the case has been handled in the public eye. Tchikito said that if the Justice party had listened to other party concerns there would have been no cause for legal proceedings. Protests are set to take place on Thursday night outside the home of Benkirane to accelerate the judgement and to compensate the workers for unlawful dismissal.
