Sudan's State Minister of Interior Babaker Daqna acknowledged that the prisons are not prepared to qualify the prisoners, revealing the government's intentions to reform them during the coming period. He added that the government will establish four new complexes for prisons in the states of Madani, Qadaref, Niala and Khartoum.
He added, in a statement to "Arabs Today", that Sudan's President Omar Hassan Al Bashir expressed dissatisfaction over the state of prisons in the country describing them as not suitable for the Sudanese citizen. He added that they agreed with the president over the necessity of improving the situation inside the Sudanese prisons.
Sudanese police is scheduled to build new complexes for prisons in four states, the officia said. He clarified that the prisons scheduled to be built this year will be the first phase, saying that they will start a new phase during the coming year. He added that they will execute the president's orders, adding that the Ministry of Finance will provide the necessary money to finance the building of new prisons.
He justified the excessive use of violence against the demonstrators, saying that they do not know the identity of all participants in the demonstrations. He added that there could be infiltrators who could pose threats, stressing the need for dealing strictly with them to protect the public and private properties. He added the security forces could not attack the demonstrators unless they committed any violations.
On the other hand, the security official praised the tactics adopted by the police forces in dealing with the drug smugglers. He added that the police forces do not suspend the drug containers in the airport not to allow their importers escape. He added that they adopt specific tactics that the ordinary citizen does not their details.
He added that the police tactics manage to achieve notable success in dealing with such crimes, adding that the drug smuggling issue should not be discussed away from the excessive presence of foreigners in the country. He added that the foreigners' crimes are limited, saying that the government is keen to monitor them.
