Minister of Transitional Justice Counselor Ibrahim Henedi on Tuesday said that the draft law on terrorist entities has outlined the mechanism for describing as a terrorist group any of these entities that undertake any terrorist action outside Egypt in accordance with a demand from the Foreign Ministry to the Prosecutor General.
In press statements, he added that the chief prosecutor has the power to file a lawsuit in this regard at court.
Settling the issue should be in court within seven days after filing the lawsuit.
The draft law has been outlined by the Higher Committee for Legislative Reform, he said, adding that the blueprint will be referred to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The draft law includes two lists one for the terrorist entities and the other for members of these entities, he added.
Minister of Transitional Justice Ibrahim Henedi added that the draft law set clear a definition of the terrorist and a terrorist entity.
A terrorist, according to the proposed law, is a person who commits a terrorist act or plans to commit a terrorist act or instigates such an act inside outside the country either unilaterally or collectively, he said.
A terrorist entity, according to the draft law, is any society, association, organization, group or cell, whatsoever its legal or real form, that seeks to harm or intimidate any person or jeopardize a life to danger, he said, adding that, this category also includes calling for halting the constitution, preventing institutions from practicing their activities or threatening national unity.
