Egypt is a pillar of stability in the region, affirmed visiting Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.
In exclusive statements to MENA on the occasion of his current visit to Egypt, where he will attend later today an Egyptian-Cypriot-Greek summit, the Cypriot president affirmed that Egypt and Cyprus are coordinating efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms.
Responding to a question about his country's viewpoint toward the latest developments in Egypt and its efforts to combat terrorism, Anastasiades affirmed that his country welcomes Egypt's implementation of the first and second phase of the road map along with endorsing a new Constitution, which protects human rights and respects freedoms.
He also said that Cyprus welcomed the presidential elections in Egypt, affirming that his country stands fully ready to offer help to Egypt during the parliamentary elections.
Cyprus supports Egypt in the various economic and political spheres, he went on to affirm.
He also hailed the positive steps taken to flourish the Egyptian economy, including economic reforms and carrying out an ambitious project of the Suez Canal.
He further said that terrorism and brutal acts carried out by Daesh group should not be tolerated.
He, meanwhile, extended deepest condolences to all the families of the victims, who were killed in the recent terror acts which took place in Egypt.
He further pointed out to the political consultations which were held between Egyptian, Cypriot and Greek foreign ministers in Nicosia.
He also said that the three countries signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in the tourism field.
