MOSCOW, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- A Russian powerlifting champion has died in an automobile crash in Siberia, the vice president of the country's National Powerlifting Association said. Evgeny Fedyakin, 32, a former Russian national champion, was a passenger in a Toyota that collided with a truck Monday in the town of Berdsk, RIA Novosti reported Wednesday. He had won the Novosibirsk Region Cup during the weekend in Berdsk. The driver of the Toyota was also killed. The condition of the truck driver was unclear, although police said he previously had been forbidden to drive. Fedyakin held a World Cup medal and a Russian Cup medal in powerlifting.
