Chievo coach Domenico Di Carlo stepped down due to poor results, the Serie A strugglers said on their website on Tuesday. Chievo said on their website www.chievoverona.it that the "team will be handed over to Eugenio Corini, who will be presented later in the afternoon". Chievo now lie in third from bottom in the 20-team standings after claiming just one win from six games. Di Carlo was in his second spell at the club having coached Chievo from 2008 to 2010. Chievo were promoted from Serie B at the end of the 2008 season and since then and despite having one of the smallest budgets in the league have improved their league position every year to finish in 10th last season.
