Venus Williams managed a Thursday comeback to set up half of a possible sibling women's final at the Australian Open as she overcame Coco Vandeweghe 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 6-3.
With the win, Williams reached the 15th grand slam final of her career (seven wins) and her first since finishing runner-up at Wimbledon in 2009 against younger sister, Serena.
The 36-year-old is hoping for the first Australian Open title in her career, after reaching the final of the event in 2003.
Her Saturday final opponent could well be Serena, if the second seed defeats Mirjana Lucic-Baroni of Croatia in the second of the Australia Day holiday semis.
