Ahly and Egypt keeper Sherif Ekramy survived a car accident Friday night. The Pharaohs had just played Mozambique in the World Cup qualifier match in the Egyptian city of Alexandria. “Ekramy’s car flipped due to some sand banks on the sides of the road,” Ahly said in a statement on their official website. “The car was completely damaged but Ekramy, thank God, only sustained minor bruises.” The 28-year-old sat on the bench as Egypt opened their World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 home win over Mozambique. He is coach Bob Bradley’s third-choice keeper, after Essam El-Hadary and Ahmed El-Shennawy.
