Janko Tipsarevic took three big steps in his charge to grab a spot in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. Tipsarevic won the Kremlin Cup title Sunday, beating Serbian countryman and defending champion Viktor Troicki. That boosted him to 13th in the world -- the highest change in the rankings -- but kicked him up to 10th from 13th in the World Tour standings. The top eight players get automatic berths to the championships, to be played Nov. 20-27 in London. There are only five tournaments, including this week's events in St. Petersburg, Russia, and Vienna on the schedule before the London showdown so competition it tight. Five of the automatic berths have been locked up by Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Roger Federer and David Ferrer. The current standings have Tomas Berdych (2,940 points) and Mardy Fish (2,875) in sixth and seventh. Both will play next week in Basel, Switzerland. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, with 2,790, is eighth and seeded first this week at Vienna. Nicolas Almagro (2,370) is ninth and Tipsarevic (2,245) is 10th. Tipsarevic is the No. 2 seed in St. Petersburg this week behind Gilles Simon, although Simon, with 2,155 points, trails in the race for a World Tour Finals initiation.
