No. 1-seed Janko Tipsarevic posted an impressive second-round win Thursday at the Aircel Chennai Open tennis tournament in India. Tipsarevic needed just 62 minutes to defeat local wild-card entrant Yuki Bhambri 6-1, 6-3. Tipsarevic won 80 percent of the points on serve, losing eight points on the day. He also finished off all four of his break-point opportunities. His quarterfinal opponent will be David Goffin, who beat Andreas Beck 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Goffin had Beck on the defensive much of the day, piling up 16 break-point chances and cashing in two each in the second and third sets. Yuichi Sugita took a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 decision from Lu Yan-Hsun in a 2-hour, 22-minute match. Second-seeded Nicolas Almagro advanced to the quarterfinals Thursday when Steve Darcis withdrew due to injury. In addition to the Tipsarevic-Goffin match Friday, third-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka, the defending champion, will go against Go Soeda in the top half of the draw. Almagro meets Sugita and fourth-seeded Milos Raonic plays Dudi Sela in the other quarterfinals.
