Sophie Gustafson and Alexis Thompson won the Challenge match carding a four-under-par 23 while Laura Davies and Melissa Reid came second one shot behind. Christina Kim birdied the nine to give her partner Michelle Wie the third place three shots adrift of the winners. The match was played in a friendly atmosphere with American Kim making the most jokes among the players. Reid from England joined the fun as she used her inhaler as a marker for the ball and along with Laura Davies drew level on the seventh but the winning pair birdied the 8th to regain the lead and kept it with a nice par on the last.Alexis was impressive of the lot with her accurate shots and got all her tee-shots close to the pin, except on Hole 18 where her Swede partner got closer to the pin.Alexis’ birdie on the third from the rough was very impressive. Gustafson, however, was the first one to save par on the first with an intelligent chip from the rough.
