Sergei Monya, the captain of the Russian basketball team, said his buzzer beater in the game against Macedonia at the EuroBasket-2011 in Lithuania was an "insane" shot. The Russian team was losing one point to Macedonia by the end of Tuesday's match and with only two seconds remaining of the play time Russia's forward Monya received a pass from Alexei Shved and scored a three-pointer to leave the final score at 63-61 in favor of Russia. "We definitely should not have led the game to such ending. We had a bit relaxed game today and probably lost somewhere in personal defense... We will gain strength and show everything we are capable of in our next game against Serbia," Monya said after the match. Russia has so far won all eight games it played at this year's European championship and finished first in its Group F to qualify for the quarterfinals. On Wednesday, Russia will play Serbia for the spot in the semifinals.
