Qatar''s gymnastics squad has left for Tokyo on wings of hope to participate in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships which opens October 7 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, a Qatar Olympic Committee report said today. The squad includes Mahmoud Al Saadi, Ahmad Al Dayani, Shaden Wahdan and Al Jazi Abdulrahman Al Habashi while Abeer Al Boainain will participate in the tournament as official. The ten-day championship is organised under the umbrella of the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique along with co-organiser the Government of Tokyo and local organisers Japan Gymnastic Association and Tokyo Gymnastic Association. The opening ceremony of the championships will be held Friday morning after which the women''s qualifications rounds will begin. The men''s qualification rounds will begin on October 9. The programme includes floor exercises, uneven bars, pommel horse, parallel bars, horizontal bar, balance beam, rings and vault. The closing ceremony will be held at 5pm local time October 16.
