Nadia Petrova of Russia used a straight-set victory over Israel's Shahar Peer Sunday to claim the championship of the Citi Open in Maryland. Petrova, the second seed, battled top-seeded Peer in a hard-fought first set, but she ultimately prevailed thanks to conversions on all three break chances in the second set, logging a 7-5, 6-2 victory. Petrova, 29, was good on 5-of-8 break chances overall in claiming her first WTA Tour title since 2008. The Russian fired seven aces and took home $37,000 with the victory.
