Tunisia made it to the knockout stage of the African Cup of Nations after beating Zimbabwe 4-2 in the last game of the group stage to establish a quarterfinal clash with Burkina Faso.
The win meant Algeria would be eliminated regardless of the outcome of their match against group leaders Senegal who had already guaranteed a place in the quarterfinals. The Desert Warriors however could only muster a 2-2 draw to exit the tournament having failed to register a win in the group stage.
Senegal's win ensured they end the group stage in first place to set up a meeting with Cameroon's Indomitable Lions in the knockout stage.
Tunisia had lost their opening game of the tournament to Senegal before beating Algeria in the second game.
