Germany's Stefan Bradl, riding a Kalex, won the Moto2 category race in the Catalunya GP, the fifth leg of the motorcycling world championship on Sunday. Bradl finished ahead of Spaniards Marc Marquez, of Suter, and Aleix Espargaro, of Pons Kalex. Bradl made his intentions clear early on, taking the lead and never looking back as he forged towards a third victory in five races which reinforced his lead in the standings. In Bradl's wake Julian Simon and Espargaro were engaged in a close battle for second and the German was able to pull further ahead in the 13th lap when the duelling Spaniards almost came into contact. Two laps later Turk Kenan Sofuoglu's determined bid for a podium place left him hitting the back wheel of Simon, who slid off the track with the Turk following in his wake. Marquez was the major beneficiary, the Spaniard moving up to second place and going on to secure a largely unexpected place on the podium.
