Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng will not miss the start of the new season despite a thigh injury, the German record champions confirmed in a statement on Saturday.
The 27-year-old defender, who limped of the field during Germany' s 2-0 defeat to UEFA EURO 2016 hosts France in the semi-final, sustained a torn muscle in his right thigh.
However, Boateng' s appearance for Bundesliga opener against Werder Bremen on August 26 is not at risk, as the defender will recover in time according to the club' s statement.
The Germany international, who staged a nearly faultless performance at the EURO 2016, joined Bayern Munich in 2011 from Manchester City to become a key player of the defence. He made since his arrival 124 outings and three goals for the German giants.
