Proud Iranian National Volleyball Team beat strong South Korean side here Wednesday night 3-1 to become one of 2011 Tehran Asian Volleyball Championship finalists. According to an IRNA Sports Desk reporters, one of the two the semi-final matches of the Asian Championship games, between Iran and South Korea, began at seven pm, Tehran time at the 12,000-seat Volleyball Hall of Tehran’s Azadi Sports Complex, and ended three-one in favor of the host team, Iran. The first set of the game ended 25-21 in favor of the hosts South Korea, to make them the first and only team that has won a set playing against Iran in these games thus far. But the most proud, most confident national volleyball players of our country after that worrying set for the Iranian nation won the 2nd, 3rd and 4th sets of the semi-final game 25-23, 25-14, and 25-20 respectively, to fill the fully packed Azadi Volleyball Hall and entire Iran with shouts of pride and joy. With this good result and their shining record of no game loss, and just one set loss, the Iranian team would at 3:30 pm, Thursday evening face the most honored National Chinese Volleyball Team that has the record of many Asian and world championships hoping to gain the ticket to the next Men’s Volleyball World Cup. The National Iranian Volleyball Team’s best rank thus far was their becoming a 2009 Asian Championship finalist place against Japan, in which Japan became the Asian champion.
