Zamalek's elected president, Mamdouh Abbass, has been reinstated by an administrative court after notorious lawyer Mortada Mansour withdrew his appeal against the club’s presidential elections. Mansour, a former president of the club himself, claimed in his case that he had won the elections, accusing Abbass of rigging the elections. As a consequence of the court ruling, Abbass will be able to take up his post as Zamalek president from Tuesday. He will head the elected board rather than that appointed by the National Sports Council. Mansour decided to drop his lawsuit after more than a year in the courts as “a gift to the club’s supporters during the centenary celebrations.” The return of businessman Abbass will serve as a relief for the Whites who face the prospect of losing a number of key players as a result of the club's financial crisis. ahramonline .
