The U.A.E. Jiu-Jitsu Team put up an impressive performance in its first overseas competition, bringing home a rich haul of 45 medals in the American National Kid Championship held over the weekend.
Mubarak Al Menhali, the Head of Communications, U.A.E. Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said the U.A.E.'s young athletes won 15 gold, 17 silver and 13 bronze medals.
'The team portrayed a bright image of the U.A.E. in the competition and at the parallel exhibition,' he added.
Almost every one of the 48-member U.A.E. squad, including seven girls, in the age group of 10 to 16, were on the podium in the two-day championship at the Convention Centre in Long Beach in Los Angeles, California, he said.
The championship attracted more than 330 entries in more than 100 different weight and belt categories.
