The 3rd Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2016), the world's only, all female, pan-Arab sports tournament being hosted by Sharjah until February 12th has entered its most critical stage with only two days until it concludes.
Volleyball saw Sharjah Ladies Club win 3-1 against the Bahraini Al Muharraq Club, while the Emirati Al Wasl Club defeated the Palestinian Ebdaa Club 3-0. In basketball, the UAE Bani Yas Club won 66-59 against Bahrain's Al Najma Club after a tough match, while Egypt's Sporting Club clinched 80-60 triumph over the Algerian Olympic team.
In the group fencing competitions Foil, Bani Yas Club secured the gold medal after defeating Al Bahrain Club 45-20, while in Épée category, the Egyptian Sporting Club won the gold after beating the Algerian Mawlodiya Club 45-28 in the final match.
In group archery Egypt, the UAE, Morocco and Bahrain are through to the semi-finals. In individual archery Emirati, Nora Al Wadhi, Iraqi, Rand Saeed and Egyptian sisters, Nada and Aya Mamdouh qualified for the semi-finals.
The third Arab Women Sports Tournament is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
