Bahrain could soon launch a professional football league. Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa ordered a thorough study into the possibility of privatizing football clubs.
He directed SCYS secretary General and BOC Vice President Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa to undertake the survey in a step which may pave for professionalism in Bahrain. Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al-Khalifa commended the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.
He hailed his far-sighted vision to promote sport movement in Bahrain and upgrade the standard of football in general. He announced that a specialised committee has already been set up to conduct the study on privatizing national football clubs, taking into account available resources.
