Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) achieved before yesterday (Wednesday) a stunning victory against the Bahraini Al Najma Club in the final of the preliminary round of basketball competitions in the third Arab Women Sports Tournament (AWST 2016) that are due to end tomorrow, on February 12.
Sharjah Ladies Club won 73-56 against Al Najma Club, while the Algerian Olympic Club beat the Emirati Bani Yas Club 63-51, and Jordan's Orthodox Club beat the Egyptian Sporting Club 65-60 in a tightly contested match.
In the volleyball competitions, Lebanon's Al Qalamoon Club won 3-0 against the Palestinian Ebdaa Club and the Bahraini Al Muharraq Club beat the Jordanian Olympic Club 3-1.
In the group archery competitions, Egypt won the gold medal, while the UAE took the silver medal home and Morocco won the bronze medal. In the individual archery competition, Egyptian Nada Mamdouh won the gold medal, Emirati Noura Al Awadhi bagged the silver medal, and Egyptian Aya Mamdouh won the bronze.
The third Arab Women Sports Tournament is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
