Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee President and Royal Charity Organisation chairman of the board of trustees Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa tomorrow will take part in the Olympic Triathlon.Shaikh Nasser will be joined at this challenge by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first vice-chairman and Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, besides other runners from all over Bahrain and abroad.Scheduled to tip off at 7am from the Sofitel Hotel in Zallaq, the annual Olympic Triathlon is organised by the Bahrain Roadrunners (BBR), which is under the umbrella of the BAA.Tomorrow's event begins with a 1.5km swim in sea, to be followed by a cycling race of 40km, and concludes with a 10km run.The BRR has completed all arrangements for this year's event, with its funds to go out to charity, which is the main objective of the race.On this occasion, Shaikh Nasser highlighted the importance of holding this event on annual basis, which serve a noble cause by supporting charity works in the Kingdom.Shaikh Nasser added that sport is not just about competition, but also has more noble goals, especially in backing charity and moving forward in getting financial support that is necessary for the continuation of this concept.Shaikh Nasser expressed appreciation to the organisers of the triathlon and the procedures made in preparation for this event.He also noted that significance of the Olympic triathlon as one of the leading sports competitions that is linked with charity, which has contributed to strengthening ties among communities of different ages in Bahrain.On his part, BRR chairman Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa said the Olympic Biathlon comes as part of many races organised by their panel to enrich athletics sports in the Kingdom, noting that the BRR has finalised all organization and technical matters that would ensure the succession of the race.Meanwhile, there will be a race briefing tomorrow at 6.30am in Sofitel transitionArea, just 30 minutes before the start of the event.The race route and other information about this year's event are available on BRR website www.bahrainroadrunners.com in the registration page. source : BNA
