The Saudi Arabian Football Federation dismissed its national team head coach Juan Ramon Lopez Caro, after only 11 months in charge, revealed local reports on Friday.
An emergency meeting in Jeddah opted to keep the team's officials, the football body said, adding that the national team's recent performances were "unconvincing", hence the decision was made to dismiss the Spanish coach, according to local newspaper, Alriyadh.
The side recently lost the Riyadh-hosted Gulf Cup to Qatar in the final, but the Spanish coach, who had a one-year stint with Spanish Liga giants Real Madrid, did manage to help the Saudis qualify for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup due in Australia.
The SAFF has so far kept its cards close to its chest on a replacement, but is expected to announce a successor ahead of the Asian nations' event scheduled for early January.
