Spanish La Liga side Getafe FC – now re-branded as Getafe Team Dubai – has been promised an additional 20 million Euros by new owners Royal Emirates Group for next season. "This additional amount will be set aside as an operating budget for the club. We will handle the purchase of players from here [Dubai]," Kaiser Rafiq from Royal Emirates Group told Gulf News. "We have plans for this club and things have been moving in the right direction," he added. This follows Getafe president Angel Torres' confirmation that a Dubai business group took control of the Spanish club in a press conference in Madird on Monday, three days after he denied that it had been sold. "Since we want to be different and we don't want to go into debt, we went looking for investment," Torres said from the club's stadium, Coliseum Alfonso Perez. "So Royal Emirates is the new team owner as of today since they bought out 99.3 percent."
