The Qatari Handball team will take on France in the placement round of the 2013 IHF World Men's Youth championship on Wednesday. In case of winning, Qatar will face the winners from the match between Egypt and Austria. Earlier on Monday, Qatar lost their first placement match, against hosts Hungary, 18-15 at the Varosi Sportcsarnok Indoor Hall in Erd. The Group B runners-up were behind by three goals (9-12) at the end of half-time. It was the Hungarians’ first win in four games. They started impressively and ran over the Asian champions with a brutal show of force. Nagy Szabolcs, with six goals, was their top-scorer. Qatar seemed to briefly come back in the second half, with Luka Bendevis doing much of the work for them. Though he scored eight time, it was not enough to help his team come back into the match.
