The State of Qatar will host during the month of September a number of local, regional and international sports events in coordination with local federations and clubs and concerned international associations. The GCC Youth Football Championship began on 01 September at Aspire Academy of Sports Excellence. The tournament is organised by the Qatar Football Association with participation of six teams including Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait. Earlier, the participating GCC nations agreed to organise a championship for youth teams instead of Olympic teams as youth teams will compete in the Asian qualifications for Youth World Cup to be held in United Arab Emirates from 03 to 17 November. Moreover, the Qatar Karate Federation will host Qatar International Karate Championship from 19 to 22 September. On the other hand, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) will organise its annual program for ‘Physical Fitness and Health’ at Doha Corniche from 09 to 12 September, 2012. The four-day program includes series of fitness and medical checks, by using BMI indicator and other vital tools to measure physical fitness, weight, length, fat and flexibility of the muscles. Additionally, the program also includes aerobic fitness test to measure the ability to work for longer periods, depending on efficiency of the respiratory system. The primary objective of QOC’s drive is to promote health and sport awareness among individuals, and to enhance the governing sport body’s relationship with the local society by making sport an integral part of their daily life.
