Chinese President Xi Jinping has affirmed his country's preparedness to support athletes and Olympic efforts that contribute to serving the youth in the Asian Continent and the whole world.
His remark was made after Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, chief of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and president of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), had met with President Xi in Beijing, said a press statement by the OCA here Thursday.
Sheikh Ahmad discussed with Xi a number of sports topics of mutual concern, it noted.
Sheikh Ahmad concluded his visit to Beijing where he held talks and consulted with a number of the Chinese sportspersons on some themes of common interest on the local and international levels as China is a major supporter for the OCA, it noted.
During the meeting, President Xi voiced his appreciation to Sheikh Ahmad's visit, hailing his ongoing efforts aiming at serving the youth and sports across the globe, it said.
The OCA said that Sheikh Ahmad, on his part, lauded support and strategies of the Chinese leadership to help the youth exercise sports in positive atmospheres, it said.
Sheikh Ahmad affirmed OCA's keenness on meeting China's aspirations to host the largest sports events in all domains, it said, noting that he arrived in Qatar to attend the opening of the Men's Handball World Championship later in the day.
Last week, Sheikh Ahmad visited Indonesia, Australia and Philippines, holding talks with senior officials on sports topics of mutual interest
