Dubai International Marine Club, DIMC, has commenced its early preparations to host the Dubai Grand Prix- second round of 2015 XCAT World Powerboating Championship Series at Mina Seyahi waters fron 19th to 21st March with the participation of 14 boats from international teams.
The world championship in its new style will be conducted under the supervision of the World Professional Powerboating Association, WPPA, and the Union Internationale Motonautique, UIM, in collaboration with the strategic partners XDubai, Emar, Dubai Duty Free Market and Dubai Sports Channel.
Dr. Saeed Mohammed Harib, Vice-President of DIMC, welcomed the President of WPPA, all contestants and teams and conveyed the greetings of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the President of DIMC.
He commended the organising committee and administrative staff for their enduring efforts to make the XCAT Series a world-class water sport competition, which started years ago in the UAE waters.
"The organising committee is busy rearranging everything for 2015 XCAT Series after the successful Dubai International Boat Show," Harib said.
"We are preparing the venue to accommodate maximum number of spectators and enable families and children to have a wonderful weekend experience with an array of excitement such as performances of SkyDive team and water bike show.
The first round of the world championship was held in February 2015 at Fujairah Corniche, in which the Abu Dhabi team won the major race title.
The 2015 UIM XCAT World Powerboating Championship calendar includes eight rounds starting in Fujairah. After the second round in Dubai, the Series will move to Europe for its third and fourth rounds in May and July respectively and then to the City of Gold Coast of Australia in August.
The series will also visit another Asian city before it comes back to the GCC followed by Dubai and Abu Dhabi where the 7th and 8th rounds will be held in November this year.
