Kuwait clinched seven medals, including two gold for Maryam Al-Rezouqi in the women's events, on the first day of the 11th Arab Shooting Championship on Wednesday.
The President of Arab Shooting Union and President of Kuwait Shooting Union Duaij Al-Otaibi praised, in a statement to KUNA, today's achievements in the competition which ends on November 19.
Al-Otaibi said that Kuwait places great importance to the sport of shooting, and does much to supports its development at the local level all the way up to international participation.
He enthused that the first day of the competition witnessed great excitement and it was clear that the Kuwaiti shooters were exceptional, after winning two gold medals in the women's individual 10m air rifle, thanks to Maryam Al-Rezouqi, and the women's team 10m air rifle led by Al-Rezouqi, alongside Fatima Abdulmalik, and Munirah Al-Anjeri.
Al-Otaibi added that Hamad and Ahmad Al-Affasi also won the silver and bronze medals respectively in the men's individual double trap event.
The Al-Affasi's also both took silver alongside teammate Saad Al-Mutairi in the men's team double trap.
Sultan Al-Osaimi, Khalid Al-Subai, and Abdullah Al-Harbi also took silver in the men's team 50m air pistol and bronze in the men's team 10m air rifle event.
