Shooter Mariam Erzougi won Kuwait its first gold medal within the women's 10-meters air-pistol competition at the 12th Arab Pan Games held in Qatar. Erzougi's achievement came after a strong competition from Qatari Bahiyah Al-Hamad who came in second while her countryman Mahmoud Al-Khalaji came in third. Erzougi also was part of the Kuwait women's team which won the bronze medal in the women shooting competition. The women competition gathers around 18 shooters from Bahrain, UAE, Iraq, Egypt, Qatar, and Kuwait. Speaking to KUNA on her achievements, Erzougi said that he was very proud to have won a medal for her country and dedicated this win for the Kuwaiti leadership and people. She also commended her teammates' efforts, saying that 14-year-old Hiba Erzougi, despite her young age, managed to take fourth in the air-pistol competition where she won gold.
